Founded by New Covent Garden Market, British Flowers Week is the annual, national celebration of British flowers, plants and foliage and the UK cut flower industry.
There’s all sorts going on this week – 10th – 16th June – free gift tags, free posters, hashtags and more… but let’s just make it British Flowers all the time! Why? We have the best gardens in the World so it stands to reason that we have the best flowers. We grow a huge variety of blooms and it isn’t just June when we can harvest… although I’ve just been out to our cutting patch and the roses and peonies are stunning.
It’s not just the beauty and the quality…most of us are concerned about climate change, single-use plastic and food miles so it seems particularly ironic to fly flowers halfway around the world from places where labour laws and pesticide regulation is very different to here… Why not choose #grownnotflown blooms?
We grow our flowers on the farm – and use a network of UK producers to supply our bouquets, posies and cut flowers every single week throughout the year… If we have to supplement we only use flowers grown in the nearest countries in Europe. This way we can assure you that wherever possible our flowers are homegrown and sent direct from our farm, not just in British Flowers Week but EVERY week.
