Here are our ten tips on how to get stunning wedding flowers without splashing too much cash!
How important are the Flowers?
Each couple is different; they have different budgets, different priorities and different things that are truly important to them on their wedding day. Start by deciding how important wedding flowers are to you. Flowers can help you save money on other decorations, but maybe you’d prefer to spend more on serving the best food, in which case most of the necessary arrangements will do. It’s recommended that you set-aside 5% - 10% of your overall budget for flowers – although you are quite welcome to spend way more and we can help you spend less.
Work with Your Florist
We are more than happy to work to your budget. You may have to compromise on the specific flowers or type of arrangements you want in order to keep costs realistic, but we can suggest budget-friendly options that will look just as stunning.
Keep it Seasonal
Our seasonal, locally grown flowers cost a lot less than exotic varieties from abroad. A few larger blooms surrounded by lots of greenery can look striking, so consider using less flowers and more foliage.
Recycle your Flowers
Re-use your church flowers at your reception venue to get the most out of them. For example
Church pedestals double as large table displays. You can also put your
bridesmaids posies in jars on the table as a stunning table centre posy.
Spend Your Budget Wisely
Don’t waste money on large and expensive arrangements like floral archways that will only be seen briefly (walked through once!). Spend money on arrangements that will be enjoyed for longer, for example, your table centres.
Think carefully about sizes
You don’t have to use masses of blooms for your table centres, and think about whether you really need a massive bridal bouquet that will cover a large amount of your (probably expensive) dress. Opt for a
bridesmaids posy instead to save time and space.
Simple is better.
Time is money. You will pay less for more simple and standard sized arrangements – and we promise that they will look just as beautiful.
Give Your Flowers Away as Gifts
Instead of ordering thank-you bouquets, give away your table centres at the end of the night.
