At the Great British Florist we truly believe that you don’t need to break the bank to have stunning flowers on your big day – and that arranging your flowers needn’t be a stressful experience!
Here are some ideas to help you save a bit of dosh on your wedding flowers (when you no doubt have spent more than enough on the rest of the wedding!)
1) Ask For flowers that do not need lots of hand-wiring to be used in a bouquet.
We really know what flowers are best for what arrangement, so if you’re ordering a Bucket of British Blooms
to make your Bridal bouquet, please tell us! By choosing the flowers with strong stems that don’t need to be wired you will save yourself lots of time and money! PLUS you will get it right first time as you wont have to buy any more flowers to strengthen your arrangement.
2) Keep it simple.
You don’t need large and complex floral centerpieces! They will be too large on the table and your guests will hate them! Instead stick with small bottles
(with only one or two stems) and jars
with simple posies in them to not only keep the flower costs down for the same effect, but you will also keep your guests happy by allowing them to have proper conversations! As we say; ‘if in doubt throw a wood slice under it!’.
3) Flowers can be on the tables without being in table centres
. You could tie a single stem to each napkin, or fill the bottom of a vase with rose petals as a nest for a candle. Although this means purchasing lots of stems you wont have to worry about jars, bottles and vases that can be expensive to hire – although not through us!
4) Choose British Flowers and be Flexible!
If you really want the best out of any florist, be flexible! Don’t have a list of specific flowers and shades that you MUST have, they will probably have to order them in and charge you more in the process. Give a guide of styles and colours and let your florist do the work with what they have, it’s bound to look stunning. Also order British Flowers
, not only will you save as the flowers haven’t been shipped around the world to reach you, but because they are all natural and scented a lot less goes a lot further! (Plus you can sleep safe in the knowledge that you are supporting British Flower farmers and helping our British Wildlife thrive!
5) Be realistic!
Last but not Least, it’s important to keep in mind that your actual wedding ceremony itself isn’t going to last more than half an hour! Lots of Brides get swept up in having lots of décor for the ceremony, which doesn’t really correlate to how long you actually see it! The most beautiful thing at the wedding is supposed to be the bride. Don’t waste money on large flower arches and pew-end arrangements, sometimes just the bridal party’s flowers will do!
